Lower Bridge over Fall Creek Gorge, Ithaca, N.Y.Because of today's roads and fences, it's hard for me to get to a vantage point where I can take a good picture of Fall Creek Gorge, but the Cornell University website has a nice contemporary photograph of the falls here.
The gorge is beautiful, but it's also been the site of many student deaths, accidental and by suicide (Cornell Sun). As a result, Cornell University and the City of Ithaca have been working on a plan to provide barriers.

Beautiful spot. I have also heard about the suicides. Understandably, colleges try to suppress any publicity about this sort of thing so as not to deter future students from enrolling. To Cornell's credit, I think they have made some real efforts to address the problem too - and not just barriers.
