Queen's Guard, Tower of London
Although I loved visiting the Tower of London and learning about its history, I did not take a picture of a Yeoman Warder. Their role is ceremonial, with the Ceremony of the Keys a primary responsibility. For the past 700 years, the Ceremony of the Keys has marked the nightly locking and securing of the Tower's gate. Of course, there was a time the guards watched prisoners and kept the crown jewels safe from theft.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

Uncirculated

The history of Trafalgar Square is here. It officially received its name in 1830. For two centuries before that, the area was part of Whitehall Palace. Ten years ago today, I was in London with my BFF Anna. Here I am sitting on the edge of a fountain in Trafalgar Square. You can see Anna's head in shadow. In 2003, renovations on the square were completed, but I haven't seen it in person.
