The Exams Are Quite Hard So Far

Ithaca Y.M.C.A. (1911)

Message:
Tue. Night / Have a very nice place to board. Am busy most of the time but am enjoying everything. / Think the exams are quite hard so far. Wonder where you are now. It's getting dark so I'll quit. / Ruth
I believe this is the same block, based on the Unitarian Church steeple. (It's the church where I was married, by the way!)

Miss Carrie lived on a farm. Sisters perhaps?

It's unrecognizable now if not for the church steeple. Shame the big building is gone - it's got more character than the present one. Have a great weekend!

Yes, it looks like the same spot. It is a shame the building is gone.

"It's getting dark so I'll quit" is an excuse I need to remember!

They really haven't improved the look of the area. I love that old building.

Things sure change in a mere 100 years, don't they? At least people are still getting hitched at the church!

Wonderful before and after. How our cities change ... and not always for the better. Happy PFF!

I have noticed many of the "Y's" are now gone. I did stay at one in Honolulu in 1989, it too is now gone so sad. They were so economical. Great post. Fun to see before and after pics.

Thanks for sharing and Happy PFF!

I agree, the red brick building was much more interesting to look at.
