Westminster Abbey, London

Westminster Abbey, London

Uncirculated

Westminster Abbey, on which construction began in 1245 (and only completed 500 years later), is the coronation church for British royals. Many famous people are buried or commemorated there. Today, Westminster Abbey hosts the royal wedding of William and Kate.

Yes, that's where it all happened today. :) I haven't seen it yet but I don't suppose I'll be able to avoid it much longer.

I'm enjoying scenes in this magnificent church while I watch reruns of the wedding. I knew it was built around the time of the Magna Carta (30 years earlier) but didn't realize it took 500 years to build. Understandable considering the tools that were available at the time!

I've watched only a bit of the long broadcast of THE wedding. I Tivoed it, so I can take my time. Had no memory of Westminster taking that long to build!
