"Say" by V Colby

Say - V Colby

Postmarked 9 May 1910
Battle Creek, MI

While I am a little intrigued at the message - what decorations was Miss Emma after? - I acquired this postcard because it's one of the sad dogs by V. Colby. I'm very fascinated by the strange captions he paired with his illustrations, mostly of puppies (many pugs), but also cats.

You can see another V. Colby pug card, "I guess no one loves me," at The Daily Postcard blog.

Is it just me or does this dog look uncannily like Yoda from Star Wars?

Yoda from Star Wars - that's too funny.
So, Aimee, as a pug owner (if you can call it that), do you think this is a pug? Or rather, do you think he meant it to be a pug? The ears seem so big. I understand that pugs have changed a little over the years though.

P.S. Thanks for the link.

Definitely yoda ears! It's funny - I've seen the Colby postcard dogs marked as pugs and as pit bulls. I *want* it to be a pug, and it is possible, given the look of pugs at the time - although it could be another type of dog, too.
