I received these stamps on an envelope from a Taiwanese Postcrossing member. I loved the colors and style of the series!

Navy Dogs

Uncirculated
Published by Edward H. Mitchell

Postcard Caption
[FRONT]: Beauties On Board United States Warship
My grandpa served in the Navy during World War II, and it seemed that he and his shipmates always had dogs around. I have some of the amazing photographs taken by my grandpa of some of the canines who served. The top photo shows Seabag. I don't know the name of the dog in the bottom photograph. The Washington Post published an article on official, working military dogs, but I do not know if there is an account of the informal friendships sailors and soldiers develop with  dogs in the field.

Too Crowded to Suit Me

Postmarked 18 September 1944
New York, New York

Postcard Caption
TIMES SQUARE, called by many the center of the world, after dark becomes a dazzling fairyland of flashing brilliance and color. This is the heart of the "Great White Way" and the playground of the nation. Ont eh left are the Paramount Building and Hotel Astor.
Postcard Message
Hello Dorothy I'm really having a swell time, but this place is too crowded to suit me. Hope your Nathan and you are feeling fine. Stella
Here are day and night shots from my recent trip to New York City. I can only imagine what Stella would think of the crowds in Time Square today!

NYC Postcards

postcards

I love seeing all the postcard displays in New York City. No other American city seems to have the variety available in the big apple. And do you see that price? 10 for $1.00!
