I think this is a very beautiful postcard - I love night views on linen. Magnificent!
Most postcards don't really have much in the way of content in the message - George always writes on postcards,
"It's beautiful. Wish you were here" because that is what his grandfather always wrote. What else is there to say? Not enough room for intimate confessions or intricate arguments. This postcard, though, shows a glimpse of life at the time, as the author asks the recipient if he were drafted [into service for WWII] and mentions that her brother is also in the draft.
Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteArtful. Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. The linens are special!!!! Happy PFF!
ReplyDeletePuget Sound still looks just as nice today. This has a wonderful message. It also reminds me that you hardly ever encounter the name Chauncey anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's a beautiful card. I love that type of message. I wonder if the brother did have to go to France.
ReplyDeleteRather sad, hearing about the draft. I will be posting some linen postcards on my blog in the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteLovely still sunset. The upside down 'I love you' stamp makes the message complete. I wonder how things turned out.
ReplyDeleteI love Puget sound! I'm so lucky to live in Washington! Blessings! LADYHIGHTOWER (swap-bot)
ReplyDeleteThe moonlight on the water combined with the text make it a romantic and a bit melancholy card. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have a moonlight linen from the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone. My favorite!
ReplyDeleteA postcard from our own beautiful NW. Very nice. Love the colors in it. :-)
